A selective PDE10 inhibitor is used in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a disorder comprising a deficiency in cognition selected from reading disorder, mathematics disorder or a disorder of written expression, or for treating an anxiety or psychotic disorder selected from schizophrenia of the paranoid, disorganized, catatonic, undifferentiated or delusional type, psychosis induced by alcohol, amphetamine, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, opioids or phencyclidine or drug addiction. Preferably the selective PDE10 inhibitor is papaverine.
