PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology in which a printing head with a plurality of nozzle arrays can be used to achieve a rich expression of gradation and a high printing speed by one printing device. SOLUTION: A printing mode is controlled so that either a high-speed printing mode or a high-image-quality printing mode can be selected depending on the information read out from the memory which an ink cartridge has. The high-speed printing mode is a printing mode in which the ink of each color is printed by a plurality of nozzle arrays, and the high-image-quality printing mode is a printing mode in which a plurality of types of ink are each subjected to nozzle array printing for every hue.
