An information terminal device has as an accessory a memory card (14) containing a serial number MID of the memory card (14) and an MID registration program for registering the serial number MID in the information terminal device (10). When the information terminal device (10) is started, the MID registration program is downloaded from the memory card (14) mounted and according to the program, the serial number MID stored in the memory card (14) is stored in a nonvolatile flush ROM (30). After this, the MID registration program is erased from the memory card 14 and the MID registration program on an SDRAM (32) downloaded to the information terminal device (10) in invalidated. After this processing, it is possible to prevent storage of the serial number of the memory card (14) to any other information terminal device (10).
