PURPOSE: A device for protecting socket part of electric furnace electrode is provided which prevents external foreign materials from accumulating on the socket part, thereby enabling smooth conduction by installing a means for surrounding a socket part that is an upper part of electrode on an upper part of holder for supporting the electrode. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a cap comprising a pair of semi-cylindrical members axially fixed onto the upper surface of a front end part of supporting arm for supporting electrode so that the semi-cylindrical members are opened and closed in such a shape that the semi-cylindrical members surround a socket part of the electrode; an operating cylinder(140) fixed to an inner part of supporting arm to move a holder(130) for fixing and supporting the electrode back and forth; a pushing rod(172) integrally connected to cylinder rod(142) of the operating cylinder and elastically moved back and forth through spring box(160) fixed onto the upper surface of the supporting arm; and a wire(190) fixed to both surfaces of pushing block(170) fixed to an end part of the pushing rod and connected to an end oppositely directed to shaft of the cap via guiding rolls(192).
