PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for variable program are provided to store a plurality of programs in a microcomputer and selectively use the programs as needed without coding a separate program for each of uses of the microcomputer. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes an input port(11) formed in a microcomputer(10) having a plurality of programs stored therein, and allowing signal to be impressed thereto from the outside; a voltage changing part(20) changing voltage of signal impressed to the input port so that one of the programs is selected; and a power supply part(30) supplying power with fixed voltage to the voltage changing part. A method includes the steps of: a first step determining one of the programs stored in the microcomputer; a second step impressing signal with voltage corresponding with the selected program to the input port formed in the microcomputer; and a third step selectively loading one of the programs following the signal impressed in the second step. The microcomputer includes a memory part storing the programs; and a program selecting part selecting and loading the program corresponding with the voltage of the signal impressed to the input port.
