PURPOSE: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to remove a difference in parasitic capacitance formed at a thin film transistor area of each pixel area due to overlay and stitch. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of gate lines(13,13') are formed in a horizontal direction. A plurality of data lines(15,15') are formed in a vertical direction to cross the gate lines. A semiconductor layer(37) is formed between areas where the gate lines and the data lines are overlapped with each other, wherein the semiconductor layer is protruded more to the upside of the gate lines in the areas. Drain electrodes(35) are partially overlapped with the semiconductor layer, being separated from the data lines at predetermined gaps. A pair of pixel electrodes(17,17') are electrically connected with both ends of the drain electrode.
