PURPOSE: An apparatus for reducing fuel consumption of a vehicle is provided to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption by controlling amount of injected fuel only sufficient for keeping idle RPM when a brake pad and a disk are attached to each other as a driver treads a brake pedal by interlocking an acceleration system and a brake system. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes a brake driving part(110) comprising a piston, a brake pad and a disk; a throttle position sensor(130); a driving part(150); a brake driving signal detecting part(120) detecting driving signal of the brake driving part; and an engine control part(140) outputting signal to control the driving part at idle RPM when the driving signal is detected by the brake driving signal detecting part, and opening degree of a throttle valve sensed by the throttle position sensor is higher than preset value. The brake driving signal detecting part is installed within moving distance of the piston in the brake driving part. The brake driving signal detecting part includes a light emitting diode generating light; and a photo diode receiving light generated by the light emitting diode depending on movement of the piston in the brake driving part.
