PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage in which the position of a recording head and the recording surface can be adjusted in parallel with the carrying passage of a recording medium, and to provide an image forming apparatus mounting that carriage. SOLUTION: The carriage is provided with a plurality of supporting parts having abutting points for supporting a recording head subjected to a pressing force in the direction of a recording medium while resisting that pressing force. At least one of the plurality of supporting parts is provided with an adjusting means for moving the abutting/supporting point in the direction approaching to or receding from the recording medium and parallelism of a gap can be adjusted by the adjusting means.
