PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus exhibiting good reproducibility when a white isolated point or a black isolated point is printed. SOLUTION: Three lines (one line five pixels) of pixel in 3×5 matrix of image data to be printed is stored in line registers 21, 22, and 23. When each pixel stored in these line registers is inputted to a matrix selector 24 and the matrix selector 24 detects that a remarked pixel is a white isolated point, four dot signals of white, white, white and white are outputted sequentially from a pattern register 25. When a 3×5 matrix having a black pixel one pixel before a remarked pixel of white isolated point as a remarked pixel is inputted, four dots of black, black, white and white are outputted. When a 3×5 matrix having a black pixel one pixel after a white isolated point as a remarked pixel is inputted, dot signals of white, white, black and black are outputted thus emphasizing the white isolated point.
