<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus comprising a magnification imaging optical system combining first and second imaging optical systems with a microlens array in which design of the optical system is facilitated by preventing extinction ratio from lowering due to distortion of the imaging optical system. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a spatial light modulation element 50, a first imaging optical system consisting of lens systems 52 and 54 arranged on the optical path of a light modulated by the spatial light modulation element 50, for example, an array 55 of microlenses 55a corresponding to respective pixel parts of the spatial light modulation element 50 arranged on the imaging surface of the first imaging optical system, and a second imaging optical system consisting of lens systems 57 and 58 arranged on the optical path of a light passed through the microlens array 55 and imaging the modulated light on a specified surface, for example, wherein the first and second imaging optical systems are magnification imaging optical systems forming an image with a magnification exceeding 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
