PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tundish operating method for most efficiently using a tundish in the case of one or a plurality of sets of continuous casting machines, drastically reducing the number of tundishes, and reducing the refractory cost. SOLUTION: In this tundish operating method, a new tundish is used for casting when continuously casting the steel which is at relatively high quality level or required composition range level by a continuous casting machine, and the tundish is used for casting the steel which is at relatively low quality level or required composition range level after performing the hot treatment of the tundish after the use.
