PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contrast of images displayed on a panel, by preventing reflection of outside light incident from a non-light-emitting area of a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: A plurality of row electrode pairs (X, Y) and a dielectric layer 2 are arranged to a front glass substrate 1, and a plurality of column electrodes D constituting discharge cells C inside a discharge space S at a position crossing the row electrode pairs are arranged to a back glass substrate 4 side or the front glass substrate 1 side, and the space between discharge cells C adjacent to each other in a line direction are divided by horizontal walls 16A of partition wall 16 arranged between the front glass substrate 1 and the back glass substrate 4, and a black or a dark-colored light absorbing layer 10 facing the front glass substrate 1 is formed at a non-light emitting are with the horizontal wall 16A formed in the discharge space S.
