PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a night vision device for a vehicle capable of giving a requisite and sufficient quantity of information to a driver and giving a proper amount of information in accordance with the risk of collision. SOLUTION: The night vision device for the vehicle is structured so that the ahead acknowledging distance L<SB>n</SB>is calculated by infrared rays from the speed of the own vehicle sensed in Step S1 (S2), and in accordance with the obtained L<SB>n</SB>value, the output adjustment of the infrared rays and on-off adjustment of a display monitor are conducted (S4-S6). Further the displaying magnification of the image is calculated in accordance with the required distance for stopping (S7), and the magnification of a camera is adjusted (S8). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
