Combustion air for a boiler furnace is preheated by warm boiler feedwater and further heated by the flue gases. Air drawn in at 15 by a fan 8 passes over a coil 11 carrying heated feedwater to a double bank economizer 4 in the boiler flue 1. From the coil 11 the air passes to a main air heater 5 receiving flue gas from the economizer 4. Part of the heated air is recirculated through the air heater 5 by a duct 9, so that the temperature of the flue gases in the heat-exchanger 5 does not fall below the dewpoint of the corrosive gases. |
