According to the present invention, alpha1,4-GalNAc transferase can be produced in a large amount by using a microorganism. Also, a GalNAc-containing complex carbohydrate can be economically produced in a large amount by contacting a microorganism expressing the transferase, UDP-GalNAc and an acceptor complex carbohydrate in an aqueous medium.
