PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head device by which a magneto-optical recording and reproducing device can be made thin. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a supporting material 6 including an elastic part 10, a magnetic head elevating/lowering member 20 which can be abutted and separated to/from the supporting material 6, and a magnetic head pressing member 61 which can be abutted and separated to/from the supporting material of a pressing part 63, a head main body 5 can be shifted to a first position closed or contacted to an information recording medium 1 and a second position being farther from the information recording medium 1 than the first position, a magnetic elevating/lowering member 20 is abutted to the supporting material 6 and the pressing part 63 is abutted to the elastic part 10 while the head main body 5 is shifted from the first position to the second position, an abutting position of the pressing part 63 is a fixed position side of the supporting material 6 more than an abutting position to the magnetic head elevating/lowering member 20 and the supporting material 6, in the second position, the elastic part 10 is elastic-deformed to the information recording medium 1 side by pressing of the pressing part 63.
