PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope image pickup device in which power consumption is reduced and long duration photographying having less deterioration in picture quality is simply conducted. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a solid-state image pickup element 4 which picks up the image of a subject to be photographed and a cooling element 6 which is used to cool the element 4.
