PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet handler capable of taking out paper sheets with high precision, irrespective of a deformation condition of the stacked paper sheets. SOLUTION: This paper sheet handler includes a movement means 342 moving a paper supply tray 321 on which the paper sheets 301 are stacked, a take-out means 310 capable of continuously taking out the paper sheets 301, a detection means 330 capable of detecting a position of a take-out means side surface of the paper sheets 301, and a control means controlling the movement means on the basis of detection results. The detection means 330 has a movable lever 331 arranged so as to come in contact with the take-out means side surface of the paper sheets 301 and a displacement detection means 332 capable of detecting displacement of the movable lever 331. The movable lever 331 is arranged so that the lever can come in contact with only part opposite to the take-out means 310 within the take-out means side surface of the paper sheets 301.
