The heat sink (20) has at least one diode boundary surface, e.g. a diode opening (23) and at least 2 cooling air flow openings (26) equi-angularly spaced around the outside of the diode boundary surface, which have a maximum relative spacing (a) of 5 mm and a distance (b) from the diode boundary surface of between 2 and 5 mm.
