Sensor arrangement for a filter element (2) comprises at least a detection arrangement (5, 6) for measurement of at least one parameter influencing the operation of the filter. The detection arrangement has an optical transmission path, (1, 4) which is either partially or completely transmitted through the filter element and or reflected from it. The transmission and or reflection coefficients are a measure for the loading of the filter element.
