PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flexibly and suitably switch role sharing between a host and a device in communication where a role of the host is assigned to one device and a role of the device is assigned to the other device. SOLUTION: This electronic device is provided with a DRD (data recording device) controller for selectively setting the role of USB host and the role of USB device. The electronic device is provided with a USB application. The USB application includes: a determination means for determining whether or not one role set up at present on the DRD controller is switched to the other role; and a role alteration request means for causing a request for switching one role set up at present of the DRD controller to the other role.
