PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy and accurate observation of cultured cells in a short time while culturing the cells for a long period. SOLUTION: The cell culture and detection apparatus 100 applies light to cells C in cultured stage on a carrier 101 and detects the fluorescent light emitted from the cell. The detection apparatus 100 is provided with a light source 102 emitting parallel light along the carrier 101 and an irradiation head 104 reciprocated at least in the light-axis direction 103 of the parallel light and deflecting the parallel light toward the cell C. The detection apparatus 100 is further provided with an irradiation unit 105 emitting a spot parallel light from the irradiation head 104 to the cell C and a detection unit 115 to detect the fluorescent light emitted from the cell C.
