PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To report the delivery of a message in e-mail by a personal computer, a cellular phone, a PDA or the like to a transmitter and to promote the receipt when it does not reach the transmitter. SOLUTION: A recognition code such as a character string in a mail is preliminarily delivered to the terminals of the transmitter/receiver, whereby a mail (referred to as dummy mail hereinafter) discriminated from general mails is formed. When a transmitting destination receives the mail, a dummy mail for receiving confirmation is automatically sent to the transmitter. The transmitter automatically determines this and displays a destination receipt on a transmitted mail display on the terminal. When the dummy mail for receiving confirmation cannot be received even after the lapse of a fixed time after the transmission of the mail from the transmitter, the transmitter automatically transmits a dummy mail for inquiry to the transmitting destination.
