PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reduce color slurring and color unevenness in the formation of a color image and a multicolor image in an image forming apparatus such as a digital copying machine, an optical printer, an optical plotter, and a facsimile machine. SOLUTION: In an optical scanner which deflects the luminous flux from a light source side by an optical deflector and converges it on a scanned surface by a scanning imaging optical system to optically scan a scanned surface, a lens 7M for optical scanning is a lens used as at least a portion of the scanning imaging optical system and in a rectangular strip shape having a length in a horizontal scanning direction and a width in a vertical scanning direction, has power at least in the vertical scanning direction, and is usable along and reversely along the width and also curved in the width direction along the length.
