<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which suppresses degradation in quality of an output image to the minimum by appropriately discriminating attributes of regions and applying appropriate processing to each of the regions. <P>SOLUTION: In a subdividing section 40, inputted image data are divided into large blocks and small blocks. In isolated point counting sections 41 to 45, the number of isolated points in each of the small blocks is calculated. In an adder 46, the number of isolated points in each of the large blocks from the number of isolated points calculated by each of the sections 41 to 45. In a comparator 47, the number of isolated points in each of the large blocks is compared with a threshold. Also, the number of isolated points calculated by each of the sections 41 to 45 is transmitted to an AND circuit 49 via an OR circuit 48. In the circuit 49, only when the number of isolated points in a large block is larger than the threshold and isolated points are present in all the small blocks in this large block, this large block is used as a dot region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
