<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid developer for easily obtaining a liquid developer having decreased variations in the grain sizes of toner particles and a sharp grain size distribution. <P>SOLUTION: The toner particles consisting of coloring matter and a binder are dispersed into a dispersion medium by a dispersing machine at a solid fraction lower than the solid fraction of the liquid developer desired to be obtained in the final. As a result, the toner particles are effectively pulverized by the media fed into the dispersing machine. The large toner particles of the grain size larger than the grain size of the liquid developer desired to be obtained in the final in a dispersion regulating solution are removed by filter media of a large toner particle removing step. Also, the micro-toner particles of the grain size smaller than the grain size of the liquid developer desired to be obtained in the final in the dispersion regulating solution are removed by the filter media 103 of a micro-toner particle removing step. The solid fraction of the dispersion regulating solution is so regulated as to attain the solid fraction of the liquid developer desired to be obtained in the final. As a result, the liquid developer having the desired viscosity, the decreased variations in the grain size of the solid fraction and the sharp grain size distribution is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
