PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk player capable of setting a prescribed play-back mode and to provide its reproduction control method. SOLUTION: A play-back mode for a disk loaded in the optical disk player is set, and the set play-back mode is stored (S11). Record information recorded on the disk is retrieved and read (S13), and the play-back mode set by a user is compared with the read record information (S14) to determine whether record information corresponding to the set play-back mode exists (S15). As a result of this, if the record information corresponding to the play-back mode set by the user exists, the corresponding record information is selected (S16), and the optical disk is played back on the basis of the selected record information (S18). This reduces troubles for setting a desired play-back mode in each case for each optical disk that is continuously loaded in the optical disk player to be played. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
