<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate wasteful printing in a device which automatically identifies the type of a medium sheet to be used for printing. <P>SOLUTION: If a user sets a medium sheet, the device prints using the set sheet. If not, the device searches a table in which the optimum medium sheets are made to correspond with print modes in advance, and selects a recommendable medium sheet. Using the table, the device judges whether the medium sheet can be fed or not. If the medium sheet can be fed, printing is carried out on the medium sheet. If the medium sheet can not be fed, printing is carried out on the initially set medium sheet. This improves operability and prevents wasteful printing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
