PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a seal structure for a fuel injection device in which an axial direction retracting surface 23 in the inner circumferential surface of a seal member is maintained even when the seal member 20 is installed on a cylinder head, and in which processes are not increased in number for forming the axial direction retracting surface 23. SOLUTION: This method for forming a seal structure in a fuel injection device includes a process of engaging the seal member 20 in a recessed groove 12 in the fuel injection device, and a process of pressing the seal member 20 to the lower end of the recessed groove 12 simultaneously as the seal member 20 is drawn from the outer circumference for simultaneously setting a diametral size and the seal member 20 and the formation of the axial direction retraction surface 23 at the lower end of the seal member.
