PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for deciding fuel wall film mass in an intake pipe or an injection valve, for compensating deviation of an established fuel/air ratio in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, when load switching change is carried out, in the internal combustion engine of an intake pipe injection type. SOLUTION: In the method and the device for deciding fuel wall film mass in the internal combustion engine 1 of the intake pipe injection type, the fuel wall film mass is decided from fuel injection conducted in the intake pipe 10 before an intake valve 5 of a cylinder 20 in the internal combustion engine 1 opens. A value in regard to the decided fuel wall film mass is corrected as a function of a ratio between fuel mass injected into a combustion chamber of the cylinder 20 through the opening intake valve 5 and the total injected fuel mass. Therefore, when fuel injection is conducted into the opening intake valve 5 of the cylinder, accurate transition compensation is enabled. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
