<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular circumference monitoring device capable of suitably alarming a driver by further correctly detecting the motion of objects present around a vehicle to determine the possibility of collision. <P>SOLUTION: The position of objects around the vehicle in real space is detected from an image obtained from two infrared cameras 1R and 1L by using coordinate system (X, Y and Z) fixed to the vehicle. When the ratio of the distance (the coordinate in Z-direction) between the vehicle and the object to the coordinate of the object in the horizontal direction (X-direction) at 90° with respect to the vehicle traveling direction is almost constant, it is determined that there is a possibily of collision of the object. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
