PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the stable tracking control by a simple circuit. SOLUTION: By this tracking controller, a tracking control signal is outputted for performing the tracking control of an optical pickup which is furnished with a plurality of photodetecting parts for converting reflected lights of optical beams irradiated on an optical disk into electric signals for outputting. The controller is provided with: a calculating part of the balance correction amount for obtaining a value to shift a phase difference tracking error signal so that a DC component of the phase difference tracking error signal based on each output of a plurality of photodetecting parts comes close to a prescribed reference potential, as the balance correction amount in accordance with the DC component of the differential tracking error signal based on each output of a plurality of photodetecting parts; a balance change part for shifting the phase difference tracking error signal in accordance with the balance correction amount and outputting as the phase difference tracking error signal of the time after the balance change; and a tracking control part for producing the tracking control signal in accordance with the phase difference tracking error signal of the time after the balance change.
