PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the cost of a color image forming apparatus which uses an electrophotography system by substituting a join of a rib for a detection hole and a detection mark provided to an intermediate transfer belt and a transfer conveyor belt. SOLUTION: A sensor detects the join 19 of the rib 18 provided on the top or reverse side of the intermediate transfer belt 6 and transfer conveyor belt to detect a reference position of the belts.
