PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, when a no-diaphragm electrolytic cell with a simple structure is used for producing peroxodisulfate from sulfuric acid ions and/or hydrogen sulfate ions by electrolysis as the conventional method, peroxodisulfate as a product is decomposed by cathode reduction, and current efficiency declines. SOLUTION: An electrolytic solution 7 comprising sulfuric acid ions and/or hydrogen sulfate ions is electrolyzed in a non-diaphragm electrolytic cell 1 to produce peroxodisulfate. In this case, hexavalent chromium ions are dissolved in the electrolytic solution, so that the reducing decomposition of the resultant peroxodisulfate is suppressed by the hexavalent chromium ions to realize high current efficiency.
