PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve compression performance by improving the structure of an intake valve for regulating the intake of gas and a discharge valve for regulating the discharge of gas of a reciprocating compressor. SOLUTION: This reciprocating compressor is provided with a piston 142 reciprocated in a cylinder 141 by a reciprocating motor 30 and formed with an intake passage F of gas inside; an intake valve 143 mounted to the end face of the piston 142 to regulate the flow of intake gas flowing in through the intake passage F; a valve assembly 170 having a discharge cover 171 engaged with one side of a cylinder 141, a discharge valve 172 disposed at the end part of the cylinder 141 to regulate the discharge of gas in compression spaces P1, P2, and a valve spring 173 for energizing the discharge valve 172; and an intake valve fixing member 144 mounted to the front face of the piston 142 to receive the intake valve 143 in a longitudinally movable manner.
