<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle for surgery which helps even a doctor inexperienced at suturing surgery perform a suturing operation easily by making it easier to show the orientation of the needle on a monitor screen when the needle is passed from one hand to the other during a laparoscopic surgery. <P>SOLUTION: This needle for surgery 10 consists of a needle shank 1 in the shape of a semicircular arc, a needle point 2 formed in one end of the needle shank 1, and a thread catch 3 in the other end where a suturing thread 9 is attached. At least a part of the needle shank 1 forms a semicircular arc-shaped flat portion 5 having a flat grip surface 7 on both inside and outside of a gripping part 4 to be held by a needle holder, with a thickness of 40 to 70 % of the needle line material diameter before the flat working, so that the needle surface has a lower reflectivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
