PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently form an image by directly heating a surface, and shortening a rise time. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is composed of a fixing roller 23, a cylindrical core 31, a first insulating layer 32 formed on the surface of the core 31, a heat insulating layer 33 formed on the surface of the first insulating layer 32, a heating element layer 34 consisting of a surface heating element, a second insulating layer 35 formed on the surface of the heating element layer 34, a core bar 36 formed on the surface of the second insulating layer 35, and a release layer 37 formed on the surface of the core bar 36. The rise time is remarkably shortened by directly heating the core bar 36 having the release layer 37 with the heating element layer 34. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
