The invention relates to layer systems comprising at least one layer made of titanium-aluminium-oxide. Said layer made of titanium-aluminium-oxide can be both a functional layer which is not interrupted by an intermediate layer which is not optically active, as well as a functional layer which is made of a metal oxide which is interrupted by an intermediate layer comprising titanium-aluminium-oxide. The layer systems are stable in relation to their structure and temperature at operational temperatures higher than 600 DEG C. The layer systems can be made of only one functional layer, as well as a multi-layer system, preferably an alternating layer system comprising high and low refractive functional layers.
