<p>The appts. for the direct or indirect application of a coating to a moving web of paper or cardboard, using a liquid or paste coating medium, has an application doctor (6) and a second doctor (8) held at a common and generally rigid doctor bed (10). Together they define the application chamber (14) with the counter roller surface and the doctor bed surface. At least one feed channel (16) is at the common doctor bed (10), to deliver the coating medium (2) into the application chamber (14). The doctor bed (10) is a one-piece unit, mounted with movement at a doctor bed holder (13). The doctor bed holder (13) has at least one moving and/or elastic distorting bed holder unit (12), to which the doctor bed (10) is fitted. A pressure unit (18, 20) bears directly or indirectly against the doctor bed (10), so that the doctors (6,8) are pressed against the counter surface with a defined pressure. At least one pressure control sets the pressure of the coating medium (2) delivered by the feed channel (16) into the application chamber (14) at the common doctor bed (10).</p> |
