PURPOSE: A method for providing a call information service using an intelligent network-based pre-paid card is provided to extend use coverage of a pre-paid card by connecting a call to a call information provider by using a virtual ID and building a call information rate DB in a pre-paid card SCP(Service Controlling Point). CONSTITUTION: When a calling terminal requests use of a pre-paid service(S2), an SSP(Service Switching Point)(44) requests approval of a subscriber(S6), and a call processing module(46a) requests subscriber information with respect to a subscriber number(S10). A DB managing module(46c) transmits corresponding subscriber information to the call processing module(46a)(S14,S16), and the call processing module(46a) discriminates whether the subscriber is valid(S18). If the approval is successful, the call processing module(46a) requests a destination number from the calling terminal(S20). The call processing module(46a) receives the destination number and checks a pre-payment balance of the subscriber(S32). If there is a pre-payment balance, the call processing module(46a) determines whether the corresponding call is identical to a prefix(S34). A billing module(46b) calculates maximum time during which the subscriber can use as a balance of a pre-paid card and informs the call processing module(46a) accordingly(S38-S50). The call processing module(46a) changes an ID number, namely, the destination number, of a call information service, to a virtual ID number(S52,S54) and transfers the maximum available time and changed destination number to an SSP(44)(S56). The SSP(44) transfers a service request to a different SSP(52)(S58,S60). The SSP(52) recognizes the destination number as a call information service(S64) and transfers the service request to a call information SCP(48). The call information SCP(48) connects a call between the calling terminal and an information providing server corresponding to a destination terminal. |
