PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide solutions to big problems of a conventional parallel multiplex transmission method for two-dimensional image information employing an image fiber such as prevention of a fault caused by position offset of an original image, relaxation of a limit on the resolution of an image to be transmitted, relaxation of limits on a size of the image to be transmitted or relaxation of a limit on a multiplex channel number. SOLUTION: Transmitter side receives sets of image information, modulates them by a predetermined spatial frequency, applies Fourier transform to them to convert the resulting information into spatial frequency information, multiplexes the information and transmits the multiplexed information by means of optical signal transmission. Receiver side receives the transmitted optical signal, selects the multiplexed spatial frequency information with a spatial frequency filter, applies inverse Fourier transform to the selected spatial frequency information, selects a desired image signal and reproduces the signal. |
