PURPOSE: A method and a device for an airtightness test of vessels are provided to very surely sense leakage of the vessel regardless of the progressing of a physical and/or chemical process and to very precisely detect a leakage variable. CONSTITUTION: A device for an airtightness test of vessels(10,20,30,40,50), particularly a tank system and a tank ventilation system of a vehicle mounted with an engine comprises a shutoff valve for discharge or supply, particularly shutoff of air supply of the vessel and a pressure source applying predetermined vacuum or overpressure relative to ambient pressure to the vessel. The pressure source is controlled to maintain uniform vacuum or overpressure and a leakage variable is calculated from a control variable to be applied to the pressure source for the control. The device for the airtightness of the vessel controls the pressure source through a control unit(70), particularly an engine control device.
