POLARIZER, OPTICAL FILM USING THE SAME, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THE SAME AS WELL AS ELECTROLUMINESCENCE DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer that can form a liquid display and an electroluminescence display where there are no irregularities in display and display characteristics are excellent. SOLUTION: The polarizer should meet the following conditions (1), namely the average value of orthogonal transmittance at 440 nm×standard deviation≤0.0001 (1). Additionally, the polarizer preferably meets at least one of the following conditions (2) and (3), namely the average value of orthogonal transmittance at 550 nm×standard deviation≤0.000005 (2) and the average value of orthogonal transmittance at 610 nm×standard deviation≤0.000007 (3). The polarizer is composed of a polymer film dyed by a dichromatic substance. Iodine and an organic dye can be used as the dichromatic substance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
