PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having excellent deep discharge characteristics and/or charge-discharge cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, negative electrode, separator interposed between the positive electrode and negative electrode, and nonaqueous electrolyte. At least one selected from a group of the positive electrode, negative electrode, and nonaqueous electrolyte contains alkali metal salt X and/or an oxidative decomposition product of the alkali metal salt X, and an oxygen decomposition potential of the alkali metal salt X is 3.2-4.3 V with respect to an Li potential Li+/Li.
