摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene related to the determination of the flowering time and panicle morphology of Oryza sativa, its protein and a transformant comprising the new gene transduced thereinto. <P>SOLUTION: RCN1 and RCN2 genes related to the formation of the inflorescence meristem of the Oryza sativa are obtained as genes having high homology to a flowering control gene TFL1 derived from Arabidopsis thaliana by screening a cDNA library of the Oryza sativa. In the transformant of the Oryza sativa in which the RCN1 and RCN2 genes are transduced so as to be excessively expressed, phenotypes such as the delayed flowering time, increased branches of the panicle and an increased number of glumous flowers borne in one panicle are found. Thereby, the RCN1 and RCN2 genes are confirmed as genes related to the determination of the flowing time and panicle morphology of the Oryza sativa and expected to be utilizable for breeding of gramineous plants. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
