PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc alloy powder for an alkali manganese battery negative electrode, a negative electrode for the alkali manganese battery using the zinc alloy powder, and the alkali manganese battery wherein the reduction of hydrogen gas generation amount accumulated in the battery is made possible, while a discharge characteristic is maintained or improved, and drawbacks of a conventional alkali manganese battery using the zinc alloy powder are eliminated. SOLUTION: This zinc alloy powder in which 0.01-10 wt% of liquid state unsaturated hydrocarbon oil is applied on the surface of the zinc alloy powder containing 0.001-0.1 wt% of one or more kinds of added metals selected from a group of Al, Bi, Ca, In, Mg, Pb and Sn is used as a negative electrode 4 of the alkali manganese battery 1. Since the surface of the negative electrode is coated with the liquid unsaturated hydrocarbon oil, the generation of hydrogen gas is suppressed and the amount of coating is controlled.
