PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Stirling engine capable of being reduced for a driving force for driving a displacer operating mechanism operating the displacer with a power piston and a predetermined phase difference. SOLUTION: The Stirling engine is provided with a displacer cylinder, the displacer arranged slidably in the displacer cylinder, an expansion chamber and a contraction chamber into and from which working gas flows with the action of the displacer, a working chamber communicating to one of the expansion chamber or the contraction chamber, a power piston operated corresponding to the pressure fluctuation in the operating chamber, and a displacer operating mechanism for operating the displacer with the power piston and the predetermined phase difference. There is provided with a mechanical spring means for applying a predetermined vibration period to the displacer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
