PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the movement of a cam to a target cam position while preventing an overshoot in the movement of the cam, in a valve control device for engine, by determining a valve open state where the cam acts on a valve and a valve close state where the can does not act on the valve, and increasingly/decreasingly controlling the control quantity of a control motor depending on the valve open state and the valve close state to improve, particularly, the follow-up property to the target cam position of the cam in the movement to the target cam position in a low rotating area of an engine. SOLUTION: This device comprises a control means for calculating the target cam position based on the engine load and the engine speed, calculating a feedback control quantity according to the deviation between the target cam position and the actual cam position, calculating a feed-forward control quantity based on at least the actual cam position and the engine speed, and increasingly/decreasingly controlling the control quantity of the control motor so as to change the valve timing and valve lift quantity of the valve depending on whether the valve in an open state or not.
