PURPOSE: A portable computer supporting a legacy interface is provided to simplify design of the portable computer and support device connection using a legacy port by removing the legacy port from a main board. CONSTITUTION: An input extending device(30) connected to a connector(10) of a main body(3) includes a port part(36) including a main body connector(32) for connecting to the main body, the legacy ports such as a serial, a parallel, and a P/S2 port, and a legacy I/O(Input/Output) controller(40) providing an input signal to the main body through the main body connector by processing the signal from the device connected to the port part. The legacy I/O controller provides the data read from a floppy disk drive(34) prepared in the input extending part to the main body through the main body connector and provides the control signal from the main body to the device connected to the port part or the floppy disk drive.
