An active implantable defibrillator, cardioverter and anti tachycardia stimulator compares the ventricular frequency to thresholds to distinguish ventricular tachycardia (TDI) from ventricular fibrillation (FDI) with additional comparisons using statistical histogram techniques to distinguish super rapid tachycardia and fibrillation above an intermediate level (F/TDI). Only applies shock treatment for unstable rhythms otherwise anti tachycardia treatment is used and uses other criteria below the intermediate level.
